I’m Annette, owner of The Memoir Studio. My background in writing is quite varied. I’ve been a copywriter, public relations director, English professor, journalist, editor, and essayist. My writing has appeared in the San Diego Union Tribune, the San Diego Business Journal, The Sentinel, the La Jolla City Light, and the Coachella Review and Please See Me literary magazines. I’ve also written for various corporations as part of their marketing campaigns.
I have an M.A. in English Literature from the University of San Diego, and an M.F.A. in Creative Nonfiction with an emphasis in memoir from the University of California, Riverside.
I live in central Texas. When I’m not working, I advocate for the Lupus Foundation, NAMI, and the Epilepsy Foundation. I have two adult children and a wily cat who loves being my writing partner.

Editorial
Developmental editing: Developmental editing (also know as structural editing) is an in-depth analysis of the work’s overall functionality.
This service includes manuscript evaluation, and two passes over your book, in-text edits and comments, and a multi-page editorial analysis with attention paid to chapter organization, theme, setting, your character development, plot structure and adherence to the genre of memoir.
Price: $0.03 per word
Line editing is the evaluation of a book’s paragraphs and sentences. It is done after a book has gone through a developmental edit.
A line edit includes two passes over the work and in-text edits and comments regarding paragraph structure, sentence structure, and dialogue.
Price: $0.04 per word
Book Coaching
This service provides a total coaching experience. Besides a book plan, you’ll write a full manuscript up to 300 pages.
Included is an inital call to discuss your objectives, completion of the book plan, and coaching calls as you draft the book. You will turn in 25 pages per deadline and receive in-text comments on the strengths and weaknesses of your work.
There will be 12 half-hour coaching sessions, one per deadline, to discuss your work and answer any questions.
Price: $5,500
Ghostwriting
This service is for busy professionals who want a book to support their work but don’t have the time to invest in the writing process themselves.
Our service includes interviews, research, outlining, and writing your book. You retain sole ownership of the work and are the author of record. Memoirs range from 40,000 to 60,000 words. Due to the complexity of the work, the price may vary.
Price: starts at $13,000
Manuscript Evaluation
This service includes a one-pass reading of your manuscript and a multi-paged, detailed analysis identifying the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript with an eye toward elements such as plot structure, theme, and yourself as character, and setting.
Price: $300
